Therapeutic Massage. Therapeutic massage incorporates a variety of advanced modalities, that enhance the body’s natural restorative functioning.Therapeutic massage can relieve pain, reduce stress, and address a specific problem you may be having. Many people think therapeutic means the massage will be deep tissue. Although I am a deep tissue therapist, I do not believe that an entire massage must be painful, to reap benefits. Some areas may be painful, but the work is done to your pain tolerance level. You will feel more relaxed, and feel that the troublesome area is feeling more free after your session.
Kinesiology Taping. Kinesiology tape is a thin, stretchy piece of cotton fabric with adhesive on the back. This tape can be applied to benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, as well as inflammatory conditions. The tape is very flexible, and moves with your skin. Depending on the area of the body, kinesiology tape can stay on for up to 3 days.
Lymphatic Drainage. Lymph is the fluid that lies directly under your skin. As a result, lymphatic drain massage requires a very light touch. If the therapist uses too much pressure, the lymph will not move at all. If the lymphatic drain is desired for detoxification purposes, I use a dry brush on the body, along with detox oil, and a digestive massage is added. Other times, lymphatic drain may be necessary for just one specific area of swelling, or for a person who has had breast tissue removed. The breast tissue area is a high traffic area for lymph, as there are a lot of lymph nodes in that location of the body. When tissue in that area is removed, the lymph needs some assistance moving through and out.
